JOB PURPOSE
The Quality Control Inspector position will be responsible for ensuring that all company, client and legislative quality requirements are met. This role is also responsible for overseeing quality control processes for materials, fabrication and design conformity.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
Qualifications/Requirements:
Welding and Fabrication Inspector Level 1 (Level 2 will be an advantage).
AWS D1.1 – Steel Structure will be an advantage.
Artisan (Boilermaker / Welder) trade test.
Experience:
4-5 years’ experience in a similar role with sound knowledge of structural fabrication.
Knowledge of structural joint connections.
Knowledge of Non-Destructive testing requirements.
Understanding of ISO 9001, SANS codes and Eskom Standards.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and weld symbols.
Development and managing non-conformance reports, defects listing and closure and root cause analysis.
Driver’s License and own transport.
Proficiency in Office Management Software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Understanding of project lifecycle and customer requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
The position’s main role is to ensure that the quality of fabrication within the Nigel workshop is met as per the ProGO, Client and Legal requirements.
Adhere to ProGO’s Quality system and Quality Management requirements.
Ensure that in-process and final product inspections are conducted timeously according to planning, drawings, standards, relevant codes & client specifications.
Responsible for assembling and reviewing structural work packages, ensuring the right WPS and client specifications were in the quality packages:
➢ Quality Control Plan
➢ Manufacturing Plan
➢ Welding Procedures (WPS & PQR)
➢ Data Books
➢ Supplier Quality Control Plans
➢ Supplier Data Books
Ensure material complies with drawing requirements, cast numbers, and material certificates.
Review NDE reports and ensure they comply with the required QCP's Request for NDE inspections.
Ensure that product quality assurance data packs are timeously compiled and maintained in time with fabrication.
Compiles inspection reports and related documentation.
Coordinates with client representatives and third-party inspectors (as needed).
Highlight quality control shortfalls, before, during and after project.
Ensure that final inspections are carried out on completed products.
Ensure that Quality Procedures are adhered to.
Ensure that product quality audits are conducted timeously.
Ensure NCRs are closed out timeously.
