JOB PURPOSE
The Structural Workshop Foreman is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all workshop activities related to the fabrication, assembly, and repair of structural steel components. This role ensures that production targets, quality standards, and safety regulations are met efficiently and effectively. The foreman provides leadership to workshop personnel, manages workflow, monitors equipment and material usage, and liaises with engineering and project teams to ensure timely delivery of high-quality structural products. The foreman must also ensure all employees live and demonstrate the “I am SPARTA” value.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCES
Qualifications/Requirements:
Artisan qualification as a Boilermaker (Red Seal – Trade Tested).
Supervisory qualifications will be advantageous.
Driver’s License and own transport
Proficiency in Office Management Software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience:
At least 5 years of hands-on experience in structural steel fabrication, with 2+ years in a supervisory or foreman role.
Strong knowledge of structural fabrication processes, welding techniques, and workshop machinery.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance.
Good leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Proven track record of fabrication according to AWS D1.1.
REQUIREMENTS
Supervise daily operations of the structural steel fabrication workshop.
Lead and manage a team of welders, fabricators, and general workshop staff.
Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide fabrication processes.
Allocate work and resources to ensure timely and efficient production.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure work meets technical standards and specifications.
Enforce health and safety standards in accordance with company and regulatory guidelines.
Maintain equipment, tools, and materials in optimal working condition.
Liaise with project managers and engineers to clarify technical requirements and timelines.
Monitor and report on workshop productivity, progress, and issues.
Provide training and mentorship to workshop personnel.
